Well we can't have your house smelling like a shelter! These can be really tough. It is possible to still house train Pickles, but you are going to have to be very dedicated to make it work. As long as the carpet smells of urine, Pickles will try to pee inside. So it you have carpet, you might need to rip out the carpet, and the pad underneath to get rid of the odor. I would start by keeping her in a small crate when she is unsupervised. Big enough that she can stand and turn around, but small enough that if she pees, she can't get away from the pee. When you are home, she can be with you, but on a leash. Every 2-3 hours you will take her outside and give her opportunity. If she normally goes to the bathroom in the same area in the house, then put up gates or close doors or place something over the area so she cannot get to it. If she is on a leash, this is easier. If she is sleeping quietly or playing, you don't have to worry, but as soon as she gets up or stops playing, immediately take her outside. You have to start completely over like she was 8 weeks old. Take treats with you every time you go outside. When she finally goes outside, make a BIG deal about it. Praise her, give her treats and affection. Hang in there, and be diligent. She should always be on a leash attached to you or in a kennel, so you can immediately catch her if she starts going in the house. Continue using treats and praise when she goes outside. If you catch her in the act of going in the house, give a quick, "No!" and immediately take her outside. Be sure to have your veterinarian evaluate a fecal and urine sample as well to make sure that there isn't any medical problem that is contributing her her problems because that will make housetraining very difficult. It can be difficult to re-potty train a dog, especially once they think that pottying inside is ok. First, get a good pet cleaner that talks about breaking down enzymes (I like Nature's Miracle). This will help break down the things in urine and feces that pets smell and we can't. Next, you have to start from ground zero. Take her out every 4-6 hours on a leash. When you first go outside, don't play, just walk around the grass and tell her something like "go potty, go potty, go potty" to remind her that she needs to go potty. When she does, give her a really good treat, dance around and get her excited! A mini puppy party! Then she can go off leash and explore or play or do whatever else she wants to do outside. Consistency is key. You may even have to get her up once in the middle of the night if she tends to have accidents at night. I would recommend going "back to basics" with Kimchi and treating her like a new puppy with no previous knowledge of where to potty. Take her out frequently, and reward her with praise and a treat as soon as she pees or poops outside. Inside, you need to supervise her all the time - use a baby gate or other barrier to keep her in the same room with you, if needed. When you can't watch her, she should be confined to a crate or a single room with a hard floor. All rooms with doors should be closed and she needs to be gated to be kept in your site. Or she needs to be leashed to an adult until this behavior has stopped. The area she is soiling needs to be cleaned with an enzymatic pet cleaner, like Nature's Miracle. She needs to be take out frequently and verbally praised, as well as given treats, when she goes outside. Play with her for 5-10 mins. If she doesn't go outside she is crated or leashed to an adult until you take her out again. This training should go on for 3 months and she can have free reign of the house once there are no accidents for those 3 months. You can have her urine checked for crystals or infection by your Vet and consider having her spayed to see if that helps. I wish you the best!

Great question! I can give you the method I recommend for potty training puppies, which should also work with Jojo. Start by keeping her on a regular feeding schedule, and taking away her food between meals. Take her out to potty first thing every morning, and once every hour to couple of hours in the beginning. Always make sure she goes out after meals, first thing when she wakes up from a nap, last thing before bedtime at night, and right before you leave the house. Take her to the same spot each time to go potty. Her scent there will encourage her to go. Stay with her outside each time she goes to potty, at least until she is fully house trained. When she goes outside, praise her and give her a treat. You might want to consider crate training as part of her house training. It allows you to keep an eye on her for signs that she has to go potty, and will teach her to hold it until you put her outdoors. The crate needs to be big enough for her to stand up, turn around, and lie down, but it should not be big enough for her to go potty in. I hope this helps!
