My house-trained puppy is suddenly having pee accidents. Why?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 2 months old

My 14 week old puppy is fully house trained but within the last week or so seems to be urinating more frequently and having accidents? Is there something wrong or is this normal?

14 weeks is very young to be fully house trained. The best thing to do is have a urine sample checked by your vet. If there is an infection then it can cause these symptoms and you will need antibiotics to fix this. If there urine is normal, then it is just behavioral and training problems associated with his age.

I’d recommend making an appointment to see your vet since urinsry accidents in a previously house trained dog can be a sign of a urinary tract infection. They can test a urine sample to see if there is infection present.
