Dog sitting aggressive dog with matted poop. How to handle?

Hello. I think a muzzle is a brilliant idea. Once you have a muzzle on her, you can carefully shave the hair off. Please do not use scissors for fear of cutting her. The easiest way is to take him to a groomer and let them deal with it. They will have to put a muzzle on him so they don't get bitten but they are experienced at it and sometimes it is best to let them be the "bad guy" instead of you. If you want to try yourself, then you will need to get a muzzle or have a person that knows how to properly hold him so you don't get bitten and then try to work on that area yourself with some warm water and shampoo (like just bathing the hind end). If I were you, I'd let the groomer do it......way less stress for everyone involved!

If the poop is just stuck to the fur I would recommend either soaking it to get it off or if you have a dog clipper (like a groomer uses, not scissors) and clip it off. Hello. There is no need to give the Lactulose at this time. If he is not constipated or having difficulty defecating, the Lactulose could give him a very soft stool that might get stuck even more. If he is extremely aggressive while being groomed, you may want to consider having him sedated and groomed at your vet's office. This will mean that Marley is closely monitored during the sedation and supported with fluids and heat if necessary. Your vet can also perform a thorough exam, and ensure that Marley's heart and lungs are healthy enough to handle the sedation. At home, you can try calming chews available in most pet stores, and consider getting Marley a muzzle to keep yourself safe.

You can try moistening the stool with warm water or a lubricant jelly. Sometimes if it is very hard it will need to be digitally removed which can be uncomfortable for the pet and not so fun for you. It would require gloves, lubrication, and trying to gently pull the stool loose while lubricating the sides of the anus. If you do not feel comfortable doing this or your pet acts uncomfortable or painful it will be safer and quicker to see your vet. Often you can remove the dried feces with a comb or soft brush. Try to get under any fur if there is any and loosen it with the comb or do some circular brushing to loosen it. Also scrubbing the area will a soft brush during a bath and using a lot of warm water usually will take care of it as well. Once Koga is clean if you put a thin film of Vaseline on his fur below and around the anus and on the underneath of the tail it will keep the diarrhea from sticking to his skin or fur.
