How cold can 4-week-old GSD/Wolf hybrid puppies safely be outside?

Pups should not be away from their mother and siblings until at least 8-10weeks of age to ensure they are fully weaned, have received at least one vaccination and have had an appropriate amount of socialisation with their litter mates and mother, early separation increases anxiety and aggression in many cases. HE should be fed a high quality puppy food and fresh water to drink 15-18months to ensure optimal development and to reduce the risk of growth deformities and joint disease. Be sure to deworm him regularly. The age at which he can be left in an outdoor enclosure depends on your local climate - your local vets office would be best placed to advise on local risk factors for both climate, vaccination schedules and parasite prevention (including ticks) - I recommend you call in and have a chat with them before you bring any puppy home

It would be best not to do until she is a bit older as temperature regulation in puppies is still immature and -5 may be a quite challenging temperature. If you are talking about 40 degrees F°, that is definitively too cold for them as puppies cannot regulate their normal temperature for the first few weeks of life. Unfortunately (for the house) they should stay inside. If a dog is cold, they will shiver and may be more lethargic than usual. German Shepherds have a thick coat, but the lowest temperature I wouldn’t leave a dog outside is below 45F. I hope this helps.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. 8 degrees is OK as long as Tobi has a comfortable bed with blankets. Dogs are comfortable at a similar temperature range as we are, maybe a bit cooler. Puppies have to be warmer than adult dogs. Make sure he has a warm bed and little house to climb into. If you keep him inside with where you are, then he should be warm enough. Best of luck with Tobi!

A puppy that young, if not with his mother, needs a warmer temperature, preferably above 20 degree at all times. He should start walking very soon. He will need to be dewormed, the first time could be in about a week from now and then every 2 weeks until he is 3 months of age. He will need 2 vaccinations at the age of 8 and 12 weeks (6 in 1 + rabies).

That is way too cold for Teddy to be sleeping outdoors, especially a four month old puppy. He should be sleeping indoors in that weather, and I would not allow him to sleep outdoors when the temperature is below 5C.
