My 4-month German Shepherd puppy eats poop. How much to feed?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 11 days old | 75 lbs

I have a German Shepherd dog he is an oversized dog and he is 4 and a half months I just want to know what is the ideal amount to feed him because he ate his poop yesterday and he was seemed hungry

My best recommendation is to have Rocky on a large breed puppy formula of high quality dog food. My preferred brands include Hill's, Royal Canin and Purina. Because all puppy foods differ in their caloric content per cup, feed the recommended amount based on his weight that is listed on the back of the food bag. I would also recommend weighing Rocky every 10-14 days because he will be gaining weight quickly and you will need to adjust the amount of food you are feeding him based on his weight.

Eating his poop is a normal puppy behavior and probably not because of hunger or decreased nutrition. It is however this is a habit that needs to be broken so clean up his feces as often as possible and correct the behavior whenever you see it.

How much and how often to feed an 8-week German Shepherd puppy?

Congratulations on your new puppy! You should feed him 3-4 times a day until he is 4-6 months old. Then he can be fed twice a day. The amount of food to feed him depends on the diet you feed him. Every dog food bag will have instructions on the back and this is a loose guide. You and your veterinarian can adjust the food as needed. Bubba MUST eat a large breed puppy food. The diet I recommend is the Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy. This diet will allow an even growth and it is highly digestible. German Shepherds can be very sensitive dogs when it comes to food. As German Shepherd dogs are very prone to having food sensitivities and also are prone to exocrine pancreas insufficiency you should not feed him any food that is not dogfood, ie human food, treats, etc. The best is to feed specific puppy food for German Shepherd Dogs such as Royal Canin Maxi Puppy Dry Dog Food Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy Dry Dog Food or similar specific complete puppy foods for large dogs. This is easily calculated with the following formula: Trooper's body weight (in kilograms [which is his weight in pounds divided by 2.2]) multiplied by 30 plus 70. This total you multiply it by 1.8 and the result would be the amount of calories that he should be eating per day to gain and maintain a healthy body weight. You can always find the caloric intake of the food you are feeding Trooper online. If you have any questions regarding how to calculate his needed caloric intake per day, contact your veterinarian. What should I feed my 40-day-old German Shepherd puppy and how often?

Jordan is so cute! At 40 days of age, he can be started on a puppy formulated food. He needs a puppy food because puppies need higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than an adult dog to grow properly. A puppy food will provide this for him. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. He should be fed three times a day, once in the morning, afternoon, and evening. On his bag of puppy food, there will be a daily recommended allotment of food, and I would divide that into three equal portions.
