When can my German Shepherd puppy start drinking cow milk?

There are commercial puppy formulas that are the best option, but there are some homemade puppy formulas as well. At 3months he should be able for dry food, if necessary to get him started you may wet with one cup of warm water. If wetted, it must be removed after 20mibs before it starts to ferment as his can cause diarrhea. I would not recommend adding milk as this alters the carefully balanced minerals in the diet and can also cause stomach upsets

Around 4 weeks of age, you can begin to introduce soft puppy food (canned or moistened kibble) into the their diets in addition to their puppy milk replacer, such as Esbilac. Dogs of any age should not be given cow's milk, as most are lactose intolerant and can develop vomiting and diarrhea.

I would actually recommend weaning Tobi onto a puppy wet food. he is old enough to do a transition to puppy food. If you do this then you do not need to add in supplements. We typically do not recommend cows milk or cerelac for dogs. If you wanted to still give a type of milk then you can do a puppy milk replacer but again he is old enough to wean off of this. Cow milk is not recommended as it may lead to gastrointestinal upset (vomiting and diarrhea). An appropriate puppy milk replacer, such as Esbilac or Pet-Lac, is recommended in place of cow milk. Warmed milk is also recommended to prevent chill. A puppy likely will refuse cold milk of any kind unless very hungry.

This is a good question, and I really wish the answer was yes. Unfortunately puppies and kittens can't drink cows milk. They need a formula solution that can be found at your local pet store or Veterinarian. The milk we drink can cause upset stomach, vomiting, or diarrhea and can't be safely substituted for mothers milk.

At four weeks old she need to be eating high protein, high calorie puppy food and if not able she should be fully assessed by a vet to check for underlying illness. Diluted milk would be deficient in energy levels for a pup of this age
