My French Bulldog has scabby bumps in his ear. Is it an allergy?

My french bull dog has bumps in his ear and it feels like scaby

This appears to be an allergic reaction but of course without examining him in person it is hard for me to say for sure.

If he has bumps anywhere else on his body then you should take him to a vet now. If only the ear flaps are affected then you can give him one 25mg Benadryl (diphenhydramine) tablet every 12 hours for the next 48 hours to see if it helps. If not, take him to your vet.

You can also get this product from your local Petco and just put it on the affected area of the ear flaps once a day. Call Petco first as many stores don't keep it in stock, only online.

Remy likely has allergies or an ear infection. He should see your Vet to help figure out why is is so extremely itchy. Ear infections are diagnosed on ear exam and cytology of the waxy debris in the ears. Allergies are sadly very common in French Bull dogs and can be managed and not cured. We usually manage them with omega 3 fish oils, antihistamines, apoquel or cytopoint for the scratching, a diet change in case it is a food allergies and antibiotic or anti-yeast medications if there is an active skin infection. A skin scrape should also be done to be sure he doesn't have mites like scabies which is VERY itchy.

Remy sounds absolutely miserable and needs Veterinary care. I wish you both the best!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Hugo. I agree that his ears appears infected as the canal opening look swollen and the tissues are thickened. I recommend cleaning the ears daily with an ear cleaner for dogs. The salt you are using can irritate the already inflamed tissues. Then I would discuss the possibility of allergies with his veterinarian. Food allergies and those to something in the environment are most common. He may benefit from a prescription diet or skin testing to determine if he has environmental allergies. I hope this information helps!

It looks like Banjo has a skin infection. These are usually bacterial in nature, but sometimes it can be from a fungus or yeast. Banjo should see a veterinarian for an exam and treatment. Why does my 3-week French Bulldog puppy have a lump behind its ear?

Without a picture and not being able to feel it, it is difficult to say for sure what this could be. I would suspect that this could be a lymph node based on your description.
