If a board certified veterinary surgeon performed the procedure(s), that could also add to the total cost. It does seem higher than the average neuter surgery though. What you can do is contact several local clinics and ask about prices then average it out. If necessary, discuss the bill with the veterinarian or office manager.

French bulldogs are brachycephalic, meaning that their muzzle is shorter than a normal dog. This does pose some anesthetic risk but for the most part, these pets do fine under anesthesia with appropriate precautions. I do agree with your veterinarian that having her spayed is a good idea. I recommend to look for veterinarian who has experience and is comfortable with sedating brachycephalic dogs. If you notice that she is a noisy breather, you may talk to the veterinarian in advance about repairing any stenotic nares or elongated soft palate during the procedure. These conditions are very common in French bulldogs. If she’s already going to be sedated for a spay, then that would be a good time to repair these other abnormalities if the doctor thinks it’s necessary. Hello. If Dodger is eating/drinking & feeling well, then this is not an emergency, but the discharge is thick enough that I would want to have it checked out. It may just be a mild upper respiratory infection, but a foreign body, like a piece of grass, is also a possibility.
