My puppy's nostrils smell gross. What's wrong and how much to fix?

This is usually treated with antibiotics. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. So cute! He might just have a sinus infection and need an antibiotic. Have a vet examine him to determine the cause and treat. If he just needs an antibiotic then it shouldn't be too expensive. You could call some clinics in your area and ask for an estimate for an exam and antibiotics.

This may be due to an upper respiratory infection that could be now affecting the lower respiratory system as well such as kennel cough. It is very important that you have Teddy evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to gather more information and proceed with an exam to determine what would be best at this point. They are likely going to consider prescribing antibiotics. A dry or wet nose doesn’t tell us a lot about their health but dogs shouldn’t have green discharge from the nose. I recommend taking him to a vet for an exam. I recommend purchasing a basket muzzle either from amazon or from your local pet store and scheduling an appointment with your vet. That much thick nasal discharge definitely indicates either a bacterial or viral respiratory infection that can possibly lead to pneumonia (expensive/difficult to treat and possibly life threatening) if not treated early. Your vet may write a script for Xanax and dispense trazadone to be given prior to the appointment. Good luck! Keno is a good looking shepherd!

It is not normal for dogs to have chronic nasal congestion at a young age. Would be concerned about upper respiratory infection that might need antibiotics. I would recommend taking Him to a veterinarian to make sure his lungs sound clear.

Bro is such a cute dog! If infection or parasites are involved, it can usually be treated with an antibiotic and a anti-parasitic medication. I may take up to 7 to 10 days after starting treatment to see a noticeable difference, so you may need to give it more time. If the lesion is worsening or not improving, I would recommend a recheck with your veterinarian. They may need to do a skin scraping to see what types of cells are present and to look for parasites.
