My French Bulldog has blisters in his ears. Should I go to the vet?

Hi Chris! I suspect that Harley may have an ear infection. Ear infections in dogs can be caused by yeast, bacteria, or ear mites. I'd take him into a vet today to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Those spots on Pepper's ears could be due to superficial bacterial infections, superficial irritation or mites. Make sure Pepper does not scratch at them as this could cause them to worsen. Sometimes these little spots will clear on their own. I recommend to point them out to his vet when he is in for his next vaccine visit. Poor Marni. If I'm understanding correctly that this isn't the first time this has happened, that sounds like classic skin allergies, which French Bulldogs are prone to. Basically, when dogs have allergies (usually to something in the environment like pollen or grass, but it can also be a food or fleas) they get skin issues such as ear infections and skin infections. The treatment is treating the infections, and then figuring out what they are allergic to and either suppressing the body's allergy response with medications or avoiding the allergen. Now if this is the first time, it's possible she got some water in her ears and her vulva is infected because of the way it's shaped (also very common in French Bulldogs). So I would recommend a vet visit to see what infections she has going on a great treatment, and also to make a long term strategies for getting any allergies diagnosed and under control. That swelling is likely to be caused by an hematoma in between the cartilage of the ear (pinna) and the skin. An immediate check up is required as the swelling could potentially get worse and deteriorate. Primary cause of the otitis inside external ear canal must be identified and treated. Very commonly the gunk is caused by either an ear infection cause by bacteria or yeast proliferation. Ear drops and a buster collar will be required. However, it usually does not represent an emergency. If it is an abscess, drainage and flushing of it as well as antibiotics may be indicated. I recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian when possible if not open today for further assessment and treatment.
