Best flea/dewormer for puppy bathed often and sensitive to pills?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 7 months and 9 days old | 13 lbs

Regarding the feature question on Advantage II, I am changing Sophie to something beside Trifexis because it makes her sick when she takes the pill. My concern with the topical is I bath Sophie, my 7 mtg old puppy every week to 10 days since she loves the dog park and I am afraid the topical washes off with bathing and I also want a dewormer. What combo will fit her?

Hi there. Since you bathe Sophie so often, a topical flea medication/dewormer is probably not a great choice. Based on what you're looking for, I would suggest using Heartgard or Sentinel for heartworms and intestinal parasites, along with Nexgard or Bravecto for fleas and ticks.

Vomiting is a common side effect with Trifexis, but is not usually seen with other oral flea/tick or heartworm medications - most dogs tolerate all of the products listed above with no problems :)
