What flea/tick/heartworm meds are safe for sensitive dogs?

Hi. Unfortunately there is no "all natrual" and effective flea/tick/heartworm prevention medications. It takes an actual medication and antiparasitic medication to prevent these. The natural products you see when you look in to these are not nearly as effective or studied as those recommended by your veterinarian. This is obviously completely your decision, but from a medical standpoint I do not recommend the all all natural medications or collars for this. If your pet is having reactions to vectra and interceptor, please discontinue them and speak to your veterinarian about other options such as revolution, heart guard, simparica or Brevecto. Great question! If Diesel has sensitive skin, I recommend using an oral flea and tick medication. Simparica is an oral flea and tick medication, as is Bravecto and Nexgard. I recommend using one of them. I hope this helps!

Either medication (Seresto or Bravecto) can be used. Since Lola is suffering from skin issues I would recommend Bravecto or Nexgard. Both of these are working very well. The Bravecto will even work against mites.

You have a few options. If you want an all in one product, try Trifexis. Otherwise you will two separate products. You might try Simparica (fleas/ticks) and Interceptor (heartworm/intestinal worms). I also recommend to have Sparky's stool checked for worms in case that was a round worm. For that parasite, pets are often given bolus dewormings since people can get that worm. That will clear up the infection faster.

Heartgard and interceptor are equal. It is personal preference for your dog and you. Heartgard is a larger, chunky chewable which some smaller dogs may not like to where interceptor is small pile that can be hidden in a treat and raiser to give pickier dogs. Bravecto is a better product as it is a pill form and last for 3 months but frontline is a topical that last for a single month

Unfortunately fleas do not live on the dog, but only hop on to feed and then they hop off and stay in his environment (your apartment!) until it is time to feed again. So you need to treat all pets in the household as well as the environment (which contains the fleas, their eggs and larvae). Flea treatment:  1) Get some flea medication such as a Flea spray or a spot on from a pet shop or your veterinarian and apply monthly (which you have done already) 2) get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside. Hot-wash all the pet's bedding, If you do this diligently for a few months you will get rid of the fleas.
