Can a female dog be injured if dogs pull apart during mating tie?

Hello, Dogs can tie and untie normally while mating. Pulling away may be a sign she is uninterested. If the male dog's penis is stuck outside of the sheath, that may be a medical emergency. It should be fine; most importantly, do absolutely nothing to spook either dog as you don't want them pulling at each other when stuck in her rectum. The rectal tissuecis very delicate, but it is also rather elastic. Once the male dog has untied monitor the bitch closely for any bleeding or signs of discomfort. If you are concerned she may be damaged at all take her to a vet to have a gentle rectal exam.

It is not common for dogs to get injured during mating. I honestly would not be very concerned. Typically first time for matting with a female and a male might take them a little bit to figure it out but I would just let nature takes it course. If you find they tie and she does not become pregnant I would recommend having a semen analysis done before jumping to artifical insemination.

This may be a problem the male has. The only thing you can do is to take both dogs to the veterinarian and have them examined. The male may have a problem with the bulbous part of the penis in that it may not be able to expand and tie, the female may have a vaginal problem. There may be a libido problem, or the female may not be ready. This can be examined and ruled out by your veterinarian. Please see your vet for an exam, preferably during this heat cycle.

There is always a possibility if the two were tied and both are not fixed. If you suspect your dog may be pregnant, bringing her into the vet to confirm the pregnancy is best. Having your dog spayed is also a good idea if you don't wish to have puppies.
