My dog tied in the wrong hole during breeding. Is my female dog okay?

Yikes! Sorry to hear that happened. Ideally yes I would take her to a vet for an exam to make sure everything is ok. While a prolapse is possible, I don't think its likely following this event. However, if there's major trauma, antibiotics would be necessary.

This could be possible that the female is injured during mating if the dogs pull hard enough to get away. If you are concerned that Alaska has been injured, I would take her into the vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

Hello, Dogs can tie and untie normally while mating. Pulling away may be a sign she is uninterested. If the male dog's penis is stuck outside of the sheath, that may be a medical emergency. Unless there is a very large difference in size between your male dog and your female dog with the female being very small, there should be no problem if she gets pregnant. However, if you do not want puppies nor want to breed her later on I suggest you discuss spaying with your vet. There are so many puppies out there needing a new home, there is not point in adding to that. Being pregnant now will basically cut short her puppy time as well.

I don't think there is anything that should be done really, i wouldn't be too concern about the incident itself but bear in mind there is a good chance that she is pregnant, which is a really bad idea if they are related. if you were considering having her spayed, it might be the time to have it done.

This may be a problem the male has. The only thing you can do is to take both dogs to the veterinarian and have them examined. The male may have a problem with the bulbous part of the penis in that it may not be able to expand and tie, the female may have a vaginal problem. There may be a libido problem, or the female may not be ready. This can be examined and ruled out by your veterinarian. Please see your vet for an exam, preferably during this heat cycle.

This is a highly unusual situation, and in my 10 years of being a vet I have never heard of a male dog attempting to have sex with a spayed female dog. However, what is most important now is getting Lucille out from under the bed and getting the bleeding stopped. I would suggest gently nudging her out from under the bed with the long handle of a broom (using a sweeping motion and not poking her with it) or consider dismantling the bed and removing it in order to gain access to her. Once you have her, place a lead around her neck so that she cannot hide again. You will need to apply direct pressure to the vaginal area in order to stem the bleeding. Hopefully no arteries were torn and the bleeding is not as profuse as you think it is. Once you have pressure on the wound you will need to again try to reach the vet in your area. She may have tearing that needs to be addressed ASAP in order to prevent infection and further blood loss. Adding ice to your compress may provide some constriction of the vessels and slow bleeding until you can reach veterinary care.
