Why is my female dog humping my arm? Is it a sexual behavior?

It may be playful behavior, but it can also be due to stress, boredom or dominance. When she does it, offer a stern "No" and gently push her off your arm. Praise and reward her if she complies. If she persists, get up and move or place her in a separate room until she settles down. Be consistent.

I wouldn't be alarmed by this as it is likely a behavioral problem. Mounting, thrusting and / or masturbation in dogs is a normal behavior. However, excessive amounts of this can be problematic and may need to be addressed by a behaviorist. An occasional episode of humping should not be a cause for concern and neutering does not always fix this 100% of the time. Humping is not only a sexual behavior but it also a dominance behavior. It is most likely that she is trying to assert her dominance over the other dogs. Quite often humping has not a sexual behaviour in dogs but a behavioural meaning, often secondary to conflittual emotions such as overexcitement. In your case, it is quite obvious that it is nothing related to sexual mating but rather something behavioural that it is often shown in the normal repertoire of dog’s behaviour.

If your female dog isn't spayed, she could be coming into heat causing this behavior. Female dogs go into heat around every six months, and if you have had her for five months, it would be about time to go into heat again. This behavior will continue every six months unless you get her spayed, which I highly recommend getting done. Best of luck!
