How do I export my dog from the USA to India? What's the process?

Hello, thank you or using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are some very specific requirements to travel overseas with a pet. This is something you need to work very closely with your veterinarian to make sure nothing is missed. This just can not be done on line by yourself. Your veterinarian will research what is necessary based on what countries you will be visiting. Please also consider the stress you will be subjecting such a young puppy to. It is a very long flight with no potty breaks, & if your pup gets sick overseas, you will be in a very difficult situation trying to find veterinary care. Perhaps you have a trusted relative or friend who can keep Luna for you while you are gone? Honestly, this will be so much better than trying to travel & find pet friendly hotels while in Europe. They can help you follow the very exact and time sensitive protocols required to transport animals from the US to other countries. If Luna hasn’t been microchipped then do that and repeat theRabies vaccine. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the vaccination protocol used in India. You are listed as being in the US so I will comment on that. Here in the States, vaccines are generally given every 3-4 weeks starting at 6-8 weeks of age and continued until 16-18 weeks of age. Are you wanting to ship or travel with your puppy to India? If so, you can use this website to learn about India’s entrance requirements for dogs. https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel/by-country/pettravel-india You will also need an international health certificate from an accredited veterinarian here in the United States- usually within 10 days of travel. As for the nutrition, I cannot help without knowing his age and weight but in general, puppy food bags will have instructions on how much to feed based on weight. Hope this helps! I recommend contacting your veterinarian to make sure any paperwork that needs to be done is complete but otherwise she should be fine. I hope this is helpful!

Your Veterinarian may have names of trainers they recommend. I would also print out the forms and requirements from the agency you want Jax certified under. They need to have certain vaccines, heartworm tests and fecal tests. I hope this helps!
