Do cats need rabies vaccine after microchip for Germany export?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Rabies laws are specific to the country. I would contact your Veterinarian regarding the laws in Russia. In the US if a healthy cat presents for a vaccine and has no previous vaccine history we give it a Rabies vaccine. It is not illegal to do so. If we find out later that is was exposed to rabies no one gets in trouble. If a cat who has been vaccinated is exposed to a possibly rabid animal we still are allowed to booster the vaccine in the US. If the vaccine is overdue we MIGHT be able to vaccinate the animal but it has to be under quarantine for 6 months. Every state is different with the laws. We usually contact the State Vet for instructions. The symptoms will not be delayed or masked. It can take up to 6 months to show symptoms of rabies post exposure. If this cat was exposed to Rabies (confirmed) BEFORE it was vaccinated it can still get Rabies and should be in a strict quarantine or be euthanized. Rabies is deadly to humans. A kitten this young is not old enough for a rabies vaccine. It would be best to start with an FVRCP vaccine and deworming. This should then be repeated 3 weeks later. Rabies is not typically given until the pet is about 3.5 to 4 months of age. The microchip can be done at any time, but the needle is rather large and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, Petco veterinarians do not issue travel certificates. You will need to make an appointment at a veterinary clinic or hospital with a veterinarian that is USDA accredited. This vet can perform an exam and issue a travel certificate for international travel as well as microchip and vaccinate Jefe. The timing of vaccination and microchipping is critical regarding travel, so review the qualifications closely before doing anything. Many times these countries require the dog be microchipped in order for the vaccine to be valid. Also, you will want to make sure you get the appropriate microchip ( Usually the ISO chip). Marlo should get his next vaccine around 10- 11 weeks. I would first make sure that you have a vet who is certified to sign health certificates. If they are not, then find one that is and make appointments with only that vet in the future. Preferably you want to see a vet that has experience in overseas exports. Good question. With the vaccines she already has, she is considered to be fully vaccinated. However, just check with the state you are taking her to make sure they don't also require the FeLV vaccine as well. The pet will also need a health certificate to travel. Hello, thank you or using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are some very specific requirements to travel overseas with a pet. This is something you need to work very closely with your veterinarian to make sure nothing is missed. This just can not be done on line by yourself. Your veterinarian will research what is necessary based on what countries you will be visiting. Please also consider the stress you will be subjecting such a young puppy to. It is a very long flight with no potty breaks, & if your pup gets sick overseas, you will be in a very difficult situation trying to find veterinary care. Perhaps you have a trusted relative or friend who can keep Luna for you while you are gone? Honestly, this will be so much better than trying to travel & find pet friendly hotels while in Europe.
