Why is my English bulldog drooling excessively and soaking everything?

Drooling is a sign of nausea which could be caused by something she ate. She may correct herself, so I would suggest perhaps monitoring her for the next 6 hrs to see if this behavior stops. If she continues to drool and/or other symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite) develop then that is definitely a good time to get her checked by your local veterinarian. Other possible causes of drooling are: problems with her teeth, infection, and nausea due to organ malfunction (i.e. kidneys, liver, etc). You can also offer her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for the next few feedings to see if this too will help settle her stomach. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Eason! He may have ingested something like a mushroom from the yard or other toxin that is causing excessive drooling. Or he could be nauseous. Other causes for excessive drooling are: something is stuck in his mouth, an injury to his mouth, licking an irritating substance, or an esophageal obstruction or irritation. If he is acting normal and eating, drinking and swallowing normally then continue to monitor. If he is hard swallowing, lethargic or not eating then bring him to a Vet today! Good luck!

This usually happens when something is irritating their mouth. This could be due to Bella chewing on a house plant, an insect, frog, or irritating chemical. They can also drool a lot if there is bad dental disease, or a laceration in the mouth. It's best to have a good look in Bella's mouth and see if you can detect anything out of the ordinary. It's also good to gently flush out her mouth (can use a hose for this) with water for a minute or two. If she happens to cough, then this indicates you are flushing too hard, or too much. If she starts vomiting, behaving differently, or has other concerning signs of a problem, then it's best to have a vet evaluate her as soon as possible. I hope that helps and all is well with Bella.

First, and most importantly, I always ask if a drooling dog has had a rabies vaccine and if they may have come in contact with a wild animal or another dog or cat with unknown vaccine history. If any of the above is the case, even though the chances are low, I would still take precautions and make sure to avoid contact with the saliva or bodily fluids until Oliver sees his veterinarian. If he has had his rabies vaccine, or there is little to no chance that he could have come in contact with another infected animal, then I would be a little less cautious, but still take him in to see his veterinarian. He could be nauseous, which is a very common cause of nausea. This could be because he ate something he shouldn't have and it is bothering his stomach, or he had a recent change in diet, or a new treat introduced. Sometimes rawhide type chews can break off into pieces and get stuck in the stomach causing intermittent nausea. Puppies can also sometimes eat things like pieces of toy, blanket, or even rocks! Another reason a puppy or dog may drool is due to something going on with the teeth - fracture or infection, for example. A piece of foreign material, like a foxtail awn, if they are common in your area, can cause excessively drooling if they become lodged in the oral cavity as well. The above are some reasons for drooling, but there are many more. To be safe, since Oliver is so young, I would make an appointment with his veterinarian to have him checked. They can make sure he doesn't need any tests to be run, like Xrays or blood work, and they can also send home some medications to make him feel better, should it be something like an upset tummy. Drooling can be a sign of issues such as nausea (from stomach upset) or problems with the mouth (broken teeth, dental disease, something stuck in the mouth/throat). If you suspect minor stomach upset, you can try offering a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice to help settle Apollo's stomach. If his drooling continues, he's pawing at his face, you can see something stuck or wrong inside the mouth, or he begins to vomit/become ill, a vet visit is best.

It could be that Rigel is having a dental problem causing her runny nose and excessive drooling. A dental problem could be severe gingivitis, an infection in her mouth, or a broken tooth. I would recommend taking her into the vet in the morning. The vet can examine her mouth to see if she does have a dental problem causing her symptoms, and can treat it.

Salivation could be caused by a number of things, including nausea, dental pain, toxin ingestion, a foreign body stuck in the mouth or elsewhere in the gastrointestinal tract, injury to the tongue (as can happen with electrical injury from chewing on electrical cords) or bloat. Bloat (also known as Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus or GDV) is a life-threatening condition where the stomach twists and distends with gas. Bloat can occur in any dog, although large deep - chested dogs tend to be affected by it more frequently. A distended abdomen, retching/looking like she is trying to vomit without production of vomit, salivation, pale gums, and labored breathing can be signs of bloat, and if you notice these signs you should rush Rosie to the vet immediately, as it is a medical emergency and can be deadly. It’s difficult to tell from the picture, but if the photo of her abdomen indicates she is more bloated-looking than usual, that could be a cause for concern. Please have Rosie seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to allow for diagnosis and treatment. If Rosie could have eaten anything such as medications, household cleaners, plants, toys, food scraps, or garbage, please let the vet know about it to help them determine if there could be toxicity..
