Try cleaning with a dog ear cleaner (your local pet store can help you). If no improvement, its time to see your vet on Monday so get the proper ear medication if needed. Skin infection, mites, and allergies are all possibilities. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian again soon. More long term medication may be needed for Sally. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian would be able to check what type of infection is present and treat accordingly. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like we may have two separate problems- a skin problem and a GI problem. The skin itching could be related to food but is more likely related to environmental allergies (which can develope at any age). Another possibility is that it’s actually pain- she is the right age for arthritis and other problems. This may be especially true if it’s over a joint. A foreign body like a thorn stuck in the skin is also possible. For the vomiting, there are many many possibilities. Acid reflux is more common with age. A trial of small frequent meals and Pepcid AC (famotidine) can help. Other possibilities include long-term foreign material (cloth or object swallowed long ago), organ disease (kidney disease, pancreatitis) cancer, and more. Abdominal xrays, full blood work, abdominal ultrasound, and sometimes even an upper GI scope or exploratory surgery may be needed to figure it out. Based on your description, I would suspect as well that Sheila isn't suffering from the ear infection still, but keep in mind that I can't say this for certain without seeing her in person. She may be feeling lethargic, which is a very general sign of illness, and I would keep an eye on her for now. Should this lethargy continue over the next 48 hours, I would have Sheila seen by a vet for a health check.

Poor Bruno! It sounds like he may have an ear infection, which is typically caused by a mix of bacteria and yeast. These conditions are very uncomfortable and can result in permanent damage to the ear and ear drum. Bruno should be seen by a vet as soon as possible to begin the appropriate oral and topical medications.

Steroids are typically given to reduce inflammation and pain. At times, this action is sufficient to take care of a mild infection because it prevents from further scratching and self trauma. If the Seamus is still having the same signs, he should be seen by his vet, or a different veterinarian for a second opinion. His lethargy may be unrelated, so it is important to have him evaluated for that as well. I hope all is well and that Seamus feels better soon!
