My dog yelped while pooping and hasn't gone in days. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 6 years and 10 months old | 93 lbs

Hello, I have a almost 7 year old Siberian husky and I'm in need of some advice. I haven't seen him poop the past few days and today when I took him out to go potty he pooped a little bit but when he first started to poop he yelped really loud. What should I do?

Poor Delgado! The yelping indicates that something hurt or really upset him! I would recommend to take him in the see the veterinarian today if possible. He could be severely constipated. He would also be trying to pass something that is causing pain in the colon. He could also have a significant anal gland infection or tumor. It’s best to get this figured out quickly before something gets worse, especially since you have not seen him have a bowel movement in a few days. Chronic fecal retention can cause some long term effects.

It's not normal that he's yelping when he's pooping, and it could be that Harley's anal sacs are impacted causing him pain when he poops. I would take him to the vet to have this examined, but it's not an emergency. If your vet is open on Saturdays, take him in tomorrow if possible. If not, make an appointment for him for next week. My dog had diarrhea, now constipated and crying. What's wrong?

Hi ! When he goes outside does he pass anything at all ? If he doesn’t I would recommend to have Oaty checked over. He is a young dog, he might have eaten something that caused an obstruction or partial obstruction in his tummy, or get hold of a bone that now is causing him pain when he tries to go to the toilet. I think a full clinical examination is needed together with a complete clinical history. We can then have a shorter list of differential diagnosis and the vet will be able to prescribe an adequate treatment. Hope this helps !

Why does my dog squeal or cry in pain when trying to poop?

Dog not pooping 3 days after anal gland expression. Is this normal?

It's possible he is still in pain and is reluctant to defecate. It's also possible a medication may have caused constipation. I recommend to call the clinic and tell them what is happening. Why is my chihuahua yelping, scooting, and in pain after pooping?

Hugo could have some anal gland discomfort or back or neck pain causing him to cry out. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian- they can check his anal glands and look for a source of pain. They might recommend some tests or starting some pain medication.
