My dog has yellow mucus diarrhea for days and won't eat. What to do?

This sounds like at this point Billy should really see your vet to have his stool checked for parasitse. Not all preventatives will cover all types of worms that pets can get, so it is best to have this checked. Most preventatives will prevent only 2-3 potentialy worms that pets can get. Until you can get Billy in to be seen by your vet it is best to offer him 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to help solidify his stools and also a probiotic (Culturelle over the counter wokrs well) daily to help stabilize the stools. Most pets with loose stool like this will need a short course of antibiotics, so it is best to get him seen by your vet on Monday if the stool is still abnormal. Hello, sorry to hear about Bowser. You can give him a bland diet for 3-5 days to give his GI tract some rest. If it does not resolve, then he may need to have medications to control his diarrhea. I would recommend a vet check up for Duke. He could have intestinal parasites such as hookworms, coccidia or giardia. None of these can be seen in the stool. The vet will likely get a stool sample to check for parasites or eggs under the microscope. Good luck and hope he's better soon.

I recommend giving Chico a bland diet, boiled chicken and white rice. If he becomes lethargic, there is blood or he isn't eating then I recommend taking Chico to a veterinarian. Also if the diarrhea isn't resolving after another day I would consider taking him to a veterinarian. It sounds as though you have already tried most home remedies for Sasha's diarrhea. It is encouraging that her stool firms up with a bland chicken and rice diet. If she is eating, drinking, and acting normally, you could try adding a probiotic (such as Fortiflora) into her new diet. I'm glad that you've looked into limited ingredient foods, but if a food allergy is causing her diarrhea, it can take at least 6-8 weeks to see any improvement related to the diet change. If the mudpies persist despite the probiotics and all of your bland diet attempts, a vet visit is in order. Sasha may have a virus, stomach upset from eating unusual food or foreign material, parasites, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), among other conditions. I hope that she's on the mend soon!

Since he is going every 3-4 hours it might be a good idea to take him to the vet to prescribe medications to help resolve the diarrhea, especially since he is going in the house at night. If you wanted to try some treatment at home, you could withhold food for 12 hours and then try a small amount of a bland diet, like boiled chicken and white rice. If the diarrhea has improved then continue the bland diet for a few days and slowly transition back to his normal food. You could also add a dog probiotic to his diet.
