5-month Labradoodle puppy has yellow eye discharge and twitching. Vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 13 days old | 26 lbs

lately my labradoodle puppy of 5 months has been having a mucousy discharge come out of his eyes. It started out looking like he was tearing but in the last two days it has changed to a whitish/yellow. Within the last week we have also notice that his right eye twitches sometimes. This is my first dog so I am not sure if this is something we can deal with or have to go to a Vet for. Tried to get photos but not worth sending.

Hi, if Sami has bilateral ocular discharge it is worthy to have him checked over, as he could be suffering with conjunctivitis. It is a painful condition that would not getter better on its own but would get better with appropriate treatment from your vet. It is important that he is checked over also for possible congenital eye problems, as this would require a different approach. As a general rule, waiting is not a good idea with eye conditions as they can get worse causing permanent sight loss or worse. I am sure Sami will get better soon with appropriate care, I just wanted to explain why we think a vet check up it ‘s important ! Lots of cuddles to Sami and wishes for a speedy recovery !
