My dog won't open eyes after walk, no injury or redness. What's wrong?

Poor Pepper. She may have injured her eye or could have an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take her into a vet now.

Hi, I would recommend to have it checked over to make sure there is nothing behind the eye lid, such as thorn, and no damage to eye cornea such as a scratch for example. Normally conjunctivitis is bilateral whilst here it looks like an unilateral problem so could it be she has caused a scracth to the eyelid or the eye surface. Hope this makes sense and that Kiera is back to her normal self soon.

I would have Maggie seen by a vet immediately. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can diagnose what is causing her third eyelid to cover her eye, and can give her medication to treat it. I would take Maggie into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

Poor girl. Because she is keeping her eye closed, it is very likely she has a scratch or ulcer on her cornea (eye surface). Because of this type of injury, Suziee Lu will need to see your vet to have the eye checked. If there is a scratch, as suspected, then she will need topical prescription eye medication to get this to heal properly. It is ok to wipe the outside of the lid with warm salt water until you can get her in to your vet for further care. She is likely suffering from an irritating severe eye infection, i would strongly recommend taking her to the vet ASAP in order to get her eyes checked and treated (this will require antibiotic eye drops)

A closed eye is often a painful eye, and a painful eye should be seen by a veterinarian. A scratch or ulcer of the cornea is the most common reason I see this, although many other problems can cause it as well. Good luck and I hope he improves soon.

It's a bit hard to tell from the photos exactly what's going on, but it looks like her third eyelid is elevated in the right eye - that's the pale-colored membrane that you can see in the inner corner of her eye. It also looks like the area surrounding the eye may be a bit swollen. These symptoms could be caused by a number of different things, so she would really need an in-person exam and possibly some testing to diagnose the problem. Conjunctivitis or an injury to the eye such as a corneal ulcer can cause swelling and third eyelid elevation. She could also have an abscess or tumor behind the eye, causing it to bulge outward and have this appearance. Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to.
