Why won't my dog eat? He has sensitive stomach and liver issues.

I would recommend talking to your vet about different kibble options or additives since they are more familiar with Jack's medical history. Often, using human foods to "flavor" dog food to encourage eating just allows the dog to start choosing what they want to eat. Jack is training you that if he doesn't eat his food, he can have something even more tasty. There are lots of different prescription diets that can be tried if Jack truly doesn't want to eat the KO anymore.

As long as Jacky is not sick and is otherwise normal, I would recommend switching to a different food altogether and consider canned food as well. If you still find he has a picky appetite, I would recommend adding chicken breast or broth to his current diet and see if this helps increase his appetite. I hope this helps! From the pictures Jack doesn't look skinny, but if they are trying to make him gain weight and he isn't, I recommend taking him to a vet to rule out medical problems. Some possibilities are intestinal parasites, pancreatic problems, intestinal problems, and organ problems to name a few. Also, he may be on an inadequate diet. Once a vet performs a physical exam, they can discuss the testing recommendations. Good luck and kisses to Jack!

Captain jack is really cute! I am sorry for his intermittent stomach issues. You may want to consider putting him on a probiotics. Also talk to your vet about ruling out any intestinal parasites, giardia, or other abnormal bacteria. He may also need to be on a diet for sensitive stomachs like science diet I/D. You can also add a small amount (1/2 teaspoon) of canned pumpkin to his food twice a day to help keep him regulsted. I hope this helps!

If Ruckis is still having this issue then I recommend a visit with your veterinarian to make sure he doesn't have an intestinal upset. You can try several other brands of food that are good for dogs with food sensitivity, such as Fromm, Merrick limited ingredient, or Victor to name a few. There are also prescription brands that are designed for pets with sensitive stomach, such as Royal Canin hydrolyzed protein or Royal Canin Gastrointestinal that you can discuss with your vet if interested. Poor Baby! I would make sure you have him on a liver supplement and make sure you have consulted with your vet about medications that he needs to be on for his liver issues. I am okay with him eating chicken because eating something is better than nothing at all. I would consider adding in a multi-vitamin to help supplement the other nutrients he isn't getting. If his appetite is continuing to decrease, I would talk to your vet about rechecking his bloodwork to see if he needs any fluids or change in his medications and also getting him on an appetite stimulant.
