My dog won't eat dry food, only soft. She's clingy and not herself.

I'm sorry your dog isn't doing well at the moment! It's good that she isn't vomiting, but I understand why you would be concerned that she isn't eating her normal food. There could be a couple of reasons why this is happening. Given that she is rubbing the underneath of her mouth on the carpet, it could be her mouth is painful. That would explain why she won't eat the dry food but will eat something softer such as chicken and rice. She could have a dental problem causing her pain, such as severe gingivitis, a tooth root abscess, or a broken tooth to name a few causes. It could also be that she is feeling nauseous and the chicken and rice is the only thing that settles her stomach. I would monitor her for now. Just offer her the chicken and rice tonight, but try the dry dog food again in the morning. If tomorrow she is still refusing to eat her dry food and rubbing her mouth on the carpet, I'd make an appointment with the vet for her to be seen. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I'm not sure if you meant that Kiinley doesn't like her food mixed, but does like it separated, or if she only likes it together, but feeding it in whatever configuration works for her to eat is fine. If she is having trouble eating at all, or keeping food down, a wellness/senior check with your vet is a good idea to rule out any health issues that may be causing her poor appetite. You can also try to sneak in a few "extras" such as a little piece of boiled chicken or carrot.

Hi there! I'm so sorry poppy isn't feeling well. Given her signs, and that she isn't spayed, she does run the risk of having a pyometra, which is an infection of the uterus. This can become very, very serious if left untreated, so I would have her examined by your veterinarian right away. Aside from the above, which would be at the top of my list until proven otherwise, Poppy is 7 years old. This makes her a senior dog. She should have blood tests to check not only for a pyometra, but for other illnesses such as diabetes, or kidney disease, for example, that may cause her decreased appetite. Good luck!

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. This could also be due to the recent passing of her housemate. I recommend that you continue to monitor Zen for now. If her appetite has not improved in the next 72 hours, I recommend that you have Zen evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I'd Pepper checked out by a vet. She could have a dental problem causing her to not want to eat her dry food. While it's fine she eats wet food only, because of this sudden change in behavior. it's important to make sure everything is ok health wise with her. Best of luck.

If she isn't spayed, she could be pregnant, but at 12 years of age, a bigger concern could be a life-threatening infection of the uterus called pyometra. I would recommend that you have Layla examined by a vet ASAP to determine if this could be the case, or what is making her not feel well at this time.

Poor Lyl. There are so many things that can cause not eating and lethargy so it is hard to say for sure what is going on. I would make sure her gums are pink - if they are white, yellow or grayish blue then she is in critical condition and needs to go to the emergency clinic. Otherwise, you can try feeding her some plain boiled chicken (no bones) and white rice tonight and see if she will eat it. If not, then I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to determine if she is in pain anywhere or if something else is going on. They will be able to do bloodwork and even X-rays if needed.
