My dog had white specks in diarrhea, tested negative. What is it?

If the white specks in his poo look like grains of rice or sesame seeds then it is likely your dog has tape worm. ask your vet to treat your puppy for the parasites he diagnosed via a fecal sample (if he has not done a fecal sample, take some fresh poop to your vet for a fecal exam). You may also want to start with flea prevention as tape worm is transmitted by fleas.

Definitely not something that sounds remotely urgent. Continue to monitor for any associated gastrointestinal signs like vomiting or diarrhea, If you feel the white specks you see are worms, consider bringing a fecal sample into your vet or deworming at home with something over the counter and broad spectrum like Panacur. As long as Karter is acting normally, not exhibiting anything I have mentioned, and is not seeming to lose weight, continue to monitor the situation closely for any other symptoms.

Poor pup! Diarrhea with no obvious cause can definitely be frustrating. If no parasites were seen on her fecal exam and she's acting normal otherwise, then it may be a food allergy or intolerance issue - I have seen this a number of times in puppies with diarrhea who tested negative for all the usual suspects, but did very well with a diet change. You can try feeding her plain boiled chicken and white rice for the next 3-5 days to see if the diarrhea resolves - if so, then she may need to stay on a special, easily digestible diet such as Hills i/d or Royal Canin GI diet.

It's possible you are seeing parasites in the stool or something else is causing Charlie's GI distress. Bringing in the stool sample to your vet is a good first step as they can test it for common parasites and other issues, especially if you are seeing "stuff" in it and he is also scooting/having GI upset still.

Yellow specks can be worm eggs or can be related to something he may have eaten but not digested. If his stool was not checked for worms due to the diarrhea, I recommend to have it checked for parasites. Best of luck

Helix could have tapeworms, which would cause the diarrhea and lack of energy. Tapeworms looks like grains of rice in the feces. I am concerned that he threw up all his food, is lethargic, and the home remedy isn't working. I would take him into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.

Poor girl. Many things can cause loose stool including intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) or Giardia just to name a few. I would recommend rechecking the stool but also ensuring a Giardia test is also ran. Then I would discuss with your vet about any other symptoms such as weight loss, appetite changes, etc, to offer more clues as to what to test for next. A blood panel may also offer some insight as to what is causing the loose stools. You didn't mention that your vet treated Echo with anything, so I would recommend starting off with Metronidazole and a probiotic to see if this resolves the problem before delving into other extensive testing.
