My dog has a white lump in the corner of her eye. Is it cherry eye?

  Hi and thanks for your request. This lump should be ideally checked by your local veterinarian as the mass looks arising from the third eyelid. It does not look like a protrusion of the nictitant gland so it could be either due to an inflammatory or neoplastic mass (a tumor). your vets will either take a sample through a FNA or a biopsy.

  That appears to be a cherry eye or a prolapsed third eyelid gland. It isn't painful but can cause irritation and inflammation in that eye. The third eyelid gland produces tears to keep the eye moist and prevent a dry eye. There is a surgery that can be done to replace it to ensure proper tear flow

  Hi! It is possible this is what we call "cherry eye" or, medically speaking, prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid. Unfortunately, needs surgical correction, but its usually a pretty simple procedure. Sometimes pops it up and in by its own, but a definitive correction will require surgical intervention. As I don't have a picture to rule cherry eye out of the possible problem, the other likely diagnosis would be an inflammation of the meiobonian glands (very tiny glands of the eyelids). Both glands (third eyelid and meibonian) they are very important for eye lubrication, so its need to be addressed by a capable vet before its causing other problems that could cause Poppy to lose his sight.

  That is a prolapse of the third eyelid gland, or cherry eye. It is common in that breed. It can often come and go when they are that small but will only go away completely with surgery to repair it. It typically does not cause any pain though and has potential to get larger. The smaller they are when they get surgery, the better the outcome looks
