My dog wheezes with discharge after bath. Allergies, asthma, Benadryl?

It could be allergies. Without hearing or examining him, it is difficult to determine definitively. Other causes may include respiratory infection or inflammation, collapsing trachea, heart disease, trauma or foreign body. If symptoms persist, have him examined by your veterinarian.

Pawing at the nose could be allergies but it could be that he has something going on inside his mouth. Since he has some eye discharge too I'd say allergies are high on the list. Could just be seasonal allergies and will go away on their own. You can try giving him some Benadryl for a few days to see if the symptoms get better. The dose is 1mg/# of body weight so a 50# dog would get 50mg (2 of the 25mg human capsules). You can give it twice a day. If you do this consistently and there is no change in 4-5 days then you can just stop - that means it's not working. If you notice it's helping you can continue giving it but just be aware that if you give it constantly they often build up a tolerance and then you'll notice it stops working. Allergies are a possibility along with the start of a respiratory infection. You can give Benadryl to dogs and at his weight it would be closer to a whole 25 mg tablet instead of a 1/4. I would say get him checked if the symptoms continue or you notice them progress

Handsome boy! He may have allergies from spring pollen or a mild cold. You can give Benadryl to reduce the nasal discharge and itching. There is a section on this website with information and dosages of common over the counter medications that are safe for dogs. if he stops eating, the discharge gets green or he's very lethargic then I would recommend a veterinary exam. Vaccine reactions usually occur within 24-48 hours after the injections so they are unlikely to be related at this point. A lot of allergies are from the environment such as grass, dust, pollens...things you can't control. However a respiratory infection can also cause these problems. An exam by your vet can distinguish between the two. You can always give an over the counter antihistamine such as Benadryl for allergies.

If she is having difficulty breathing then she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. Your vet could take an X-ray to evaluate her heart and lungs. If she is scratching a lot then she may also have allergies and your vet can prescribe an antihistamine to treat. Also inspect her for fleas and uses a flea prevention , like NexGard, Bravecto, Frontline, etc.

I would be concerned that there is still swelling, potentially irritating the trachea or throat if Apollo is also now coughing and the hives haven't resolved after two days of home treatment. If this continues or worsens it would be best to seek veterinary care to have Apollo examined and treated with a strong medication to help stop the allergic reaction, especially if he is having swelling of the face or neck, or is having trouble breathing.
