Why is my dog losing weight and pooping yellow? No parasites.

Poor Pip! She is so lovely. I'd take her back into the vet this weekend for blood work and a urinalysis. There's something causing her weight loss and diarrhea, and it could be a digestive issue. I think at this point, further testing is needed. I hope this helps!

Has he had fecal testing run at a laboratory? Sometimes if the vet looks at it themselves they can miss something (human error happens). You can actually send the test in yourself to the lab and then if there are any positive results you can consult with your vet about treatment. This is the same lab they would likely use. To get a definitive diagnosis intestinal biopsies would be needed. That being said, if owners cannot afford that, often times we do a trial of medication (I use Tylosin) to treat it and see what happens. In the meantime, I suggest you try using Fortiflora probiotic (if you have not already done so). One packet on food daily - one box will do a 30 day treatment. The more different things you give him the more chance of diarrhea and then you won't know what is helping or not helping. Keeping things consistent makes it easier to get a diagnosis. This could be due to many conditions such as chronic pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), an infection, among other possibilities. Hi there Persistent diarrhea is one thing we take pretty seriously in our pets. It would be helpful to know if Winnie has been dewormed lately and if she has been vaccinated. Your vet will likely need to do a fecal exam to make sure what you are describing isn't parasites, first and foremost. It is less concerning with her overall seemingly good health but I would still encourage you to do it soon. I hope this helps!

If she is also urinating a lot and is underweight I’d recommend a vet exam, blood work and fecal testing. I’d assume at her young age the drinking excessively is behavioral. If she isn’t active and not in the heat limit her water intake a bit. As for her appetite if she is underweight then I’d be concerned for parasites or a digestive disorder. Shepherds can be affected by pancreatic insufficiency and inflammatory bowel disease. If she is underweight then increase her food by 25% every 2-4 weeks until she had has ideal body condition.
