What causes a dog to throw up yellow or white foamy vomit often?

If your pet has vomited this much in the past 45 minutes I would be very suspicious of a foreign body or a very intense dietary indiscretion (eating something he shouldn't have). I would recommend you start supportive care (like Famotiidne 05-1.0mg/kg every 12 hrs and a bland diet like Purina EN Gastrointestinal canned food OR boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. However there is a big possibility that this could have been a toxicity and if any more symptoms start to arise (such as ataxia (staggering) or shaking, crying out) then I highly recommend you seek a personal veterinarian for a physical examination and further diagnostics. - Dr. H

Poor Jasper! Vomiting can have a wide array of causes, but in a younger dog, a foreign body obstruction/blockage, stomach upset form eating inappropriate food, viruses, or parasites are among the more common culprits. Since Jasper has been vomiting a good bit for the past 2 days, he should be examined by his vet today. If there is even a possible suspicion that he may have eating something that he shouldn't have, he will need abdominal x-rays to determine if a foreign body intestinal obstruction is suspected. Jasper may also need to have blood testing (CBC, chemistry, cPL) or fecal testing. Do not feed Jasper until he has seen his vet today for an exam.

Vomiting is sometimes seen with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis and chronic kidney disease, among many other conditions. Given Mugsy's young age and the fact that he is otherwise doing fine and this is sporadic, dietary indiscretion appears more likely. It may be something as easy as just changing his diet to something that he can tolerate better. However, an examination by a veterinarian as well as minimal diagnostic data would be needed to rule out more concerning things. You can start by changing his diet to a sensitive stomach type diet. If no improvement, have him examined by a veterinarian to start therapy if needed based on findings. Good luck!

Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Diesel evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid he is likely becoming dehydrated. I would recommend changing the diet and considering adding a probiotic to the diet such as Purina Fortiflora. In a recent study, it was shown that almost 55% of GI cases (vomiting / diarrhea ) were related to the diet or the intestinal bacterial content being low. I would consider switching to a different diet and wait at least 4 weeks to see a difference. The probiotic can be found online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement on the new diet, you may need to do a food trial on a hydrolyzed protein diet to rule out a dietary allergy. If the diet has been ruled out as the cause, I would recommend running Kobe's bloodwork and considering an abdominal ultrasound or x-rays. I hope this helps! I would recommend having Oliver examined by a vet. Vomiting in an older dog is always a little concerning for issues such as liver or kidney disease, pancreatitis, IBD, etc. Once he isn't vomiting any more, switching to a senior diet is a good idea.

Poor Louis! There are many causes for continued vomiting. Certainly parasites like worms and giardia can cause frequent vomiting. Bacterial over growth is also common in younger dogs. Food allergies or intolerance are possible at his age. Lastly a more serious cause can include a partial intestinal obstruction. I recommend to have Louis visit his veterinarian for a physical exam and to rule out some of the more common causes. Treatment will depend on the cause and may include medications or a special diet.
