Why are my dogs vomiting whole food chunks weekly for several hours?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I have 3 dogs, all of which have been sick for one evening for the past 4 weeks. Sickness only lasts about 5 hours. They are themselves and have no lethargy. There has been no direct change in food, only that the kibble they have is now slightly larger in size. Vomiting is always whole chunks of food followed by bile.

I am not sure I completely understand your question... each of the dogs have been sick once (as in one evening total for each dog) in the past four weeks? If I am understanding you correctly, it may be coincidental. However, it may be that they are getting into trouble together; perhaps they've found something interesting in the yard to chew on ( a dead bunny, or some mulch, etc) that has upset their stomachs. Its also possible that they are just eating too fast and need to slow down. A [slow feeder bowl ]() may be helpful.
If you continue to average once a week that someone is getting sick, take them in to the veterinarian for a physical exam. It would also be a good idea to consider just deworming them all "just in case."
I hope thats helpful for you. Thanks for asking PetCoach!
