My dog is a picky eater, gets bored, and vomits if she skips meals.

I would recommend transitioning her to a different food and consider adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. I would try 2-3 different foods and see if that makes a difference. I recommend taking her to the vet with a fresh stool sample to rule out intestinal parasites first. She may also need X-rays to rule out an obstruction. I would stop feeding her the human foods as she is likely to hold out for those vs eating her puppy food diet. You can try adding canned puppy food to her dry food to get her more intested. As long as there are no health concerns she will eat when she's hungry. Right now, you are caving to her before she caves and eats and is therefore promoting a picky behavior. I would start by initiating a bland diet and then feed this at least 3 days beyond the resolution of the vomit. Once it is resolved, I would transition back to the dog food. If the vomiting and decreased appetite begin again, I would do the bland diet and then transition to a completely different dog food altogether and see if this helps. It is possible that hard food is causing discomfort in the mouth if he has an infected tooth or an object lodged in between his teeth. It is also possible that the Whole Hearted is making him nauseous due to a dietary indiscretion. I would recommend putting Ceasar on a food such as Science Diet or Royal Canin and see how he does on a different food. Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Amaya. She may have an upset stomach. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about Pola's troubles. I have seem dogs vomit because of their stomach being empty for too long in between meals. Vomiting after eating however could more likely be a sign of something else. Maybe Pola's food no longer agrees with her or she's getting a sensitive stomach. Also, can you think of anything Pola may have gotten into? Dogs can get things stuck in the stomach that can cause partial blockages or even chronic irritation. I would make sure you are giving Pola her total amount of food split into 2-3 meals every 8-12 hours. Also important is if Pola has started eating faster because shes being given less food to eat. Eating too fast would make her throw up too. She may need to eat from a treat dispensing ball or something like a pickle pocket to make sure she's eating slowly. If this doesn't go away in another 5 days or so I'd have her evaluated by her veterinarian. They can help you streamline her diet and also make sure she doesn't have anything else going on.
