My dog is repeatedly vomiting and now also sneezing. What's wrong?

I'm sorry to hear Nana isn't feeling well. I would determine if she is vomiting the white foam, or if it is produced after a strong coughing fit. If it is after coughing it can be due to an upper respiratory infection such as kennel cough. If it is secondary to vomiting, then it could be due to a GI upset of some kind. I would recommend she be seen by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her issue, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork) and get started on any treatment she may need (antibiotics, cough suppressant) to help resolve the issue. Hello, thank you for your question about Panda. Sneezing and nasal discharge can be a sign of many possible underlying conditions in dogs. Dogs can have foreign material caught in their nose, allergies/inflammatory rhinitis, masses, or other abnormalities. They can also have viral/bacterial upper respiratory infections. It is possible that the vomiting could be related to this problem or could be another primary problem. I would recommend having Panda evaluated by your veterinarian. They can perform an examination and evaluate the air flow through Panda's nose and look for discharge or other abnormalities. They can also see if Panda has a fever or abnormal lung sounds. Depending on the findings of their examination they can discuss further diagnostic workup and possible treatments. Hope this helps, good luck!

It sounds as Sapphire is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Intestinal worms are common in puppies, and that could be the cause of her diarrhea. She could have a respiratory infection or irritation of the nasal passages causing the reverse sneezing. Reverse sneezing can be caused by allergies, upper respiratory infection, or something caught in the back of the nose or throat causing irritation. Sometimes the reverse sneeze can cause vomiting, or it is possible that some vomit got into the nasal passages and is causing irritation and thus reverse sneezing. However, I am more concerned that Benny is having vomiting and diarrhea at the same time. Small dogs can become dehydrated very quickly. Possible causes for vomiting and diarrhea include intestinal parasites, bacterial or viral infections, intestinal blockages, or other internal issues. If Benny has been having both vomiting and diarrhea for more than 24 hours, he should be seen by a vet as soon as possible.

Yellow vomit is termed "bile" and this is seen when the pet has an empty upset stomach. Sneezing can also be a sign of mild allergies or nasal parasites (not as common). If J.R. continues to vomit for more than 12-24 hrs and also has other signs of sickness (i.e. lack of energy, not holding down any food, lack of appetite), then it is best to get J.R. seen by your veterinarian for strong medical treatment and good physical exam. However if J.R. is still relatively active, happy and playful, you can try withholding food for 12-24 hrs then feeding him a bland diet of plain boiled chicken and rice or cottage cheese OR Purina EN Gastrointestinal. Hopefully this is enough to settle his stomach and get him back to normal.

I wouldn't be very concerned with what you are describing. It's likely that the vomiting was unrelated to the recent sneezing and I don't get too concerned about an occasional vomit as long as the dog is otherwise acting normal. The sneezing may be due to something irritating in the environment, or a minor infection. I would check to see if there are any new perfumes, diffusers, or other possible new smells that have been introduced to the household.
