When there is evidence of blood in the vomit, that raises concern for things like a gastrointestinal ulcer, gastrointestinal tumor, severe gastroenteritis, foreign body ingestion, among other possibilities. Some tests that are usually run include bloodwork (CBC and chemistry panel +/- coagulation profile) and abdominal ultrasound. Thoracic/cervical radiographs may follow. Further diagnostics will be based on the findings up to that point. Treatment will be based on findings. I do think that this warrants an evaluation as soon as possible as he may be getting dehydrated. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be fine with Osito!

I would have your Vet take belly X-rays, deworm him and then I would change his food to a new protein source or a prescription food. If he doesn't have something stuck or worms then it is possible he has a food allergy. Another thought it to test for Addison's disease, which is decreased steroid production from the adrenal glands. It can cause weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite. I hope this helps!

I recommend to have her checked for stomach worms. If everything looks normal there, I recommend to look into an abdominal ultrasound or an endoscope (which would be best). This is the best way to look for any masses or evidence of cancer. You may also ask your veterinarian about starting an anti-acid protocol which could help. I hope they figure it out quickly!

I am sorry that Daisy is so sick,. It sounds like you have a good vet working hard to make Daisy feel better. I know you said her barium study came back normal however if she is still vomiting it might be time for her to have additional testing. I would recommend if they have not done already blood work to look at the liver , kidney and white/red blood cell function. Also could she have gotten into a toxin or have a foreign object in her abdomen that the barium did not see. Unfortunately medicine is very frustrating because it can take a while to determine the cause of illness. Also I would make sure Daisy does not have a virus like parvo or parasites. I would recommend continuing to discuss options with your vet who is taking care of daisy and I hope she starts feeling better soon!!

Hello. I am so sorry for your poor Ceci. I know you have spent a tremendous amount of money trying to figure out what is wrong, but I think at this point you may need to do at least one more test. She needs to have her stomach scoped & probably a biopsy of her stomach lining taken to see if this may be some kind of unusual infection, such as a fungus ( Phythium sp. ). Have they ruled out a Helicobacter gastritis? This is treated with long term medications. Hopefully, Ceci will be feeling better soon. It can be hard to work up these types of chronic cases. Food allergies, IBD, and intestinal parasites would be common. Empirical deworming and treating for Giardia is often done, as well as sending out blood for a GI panel. A good trial with a prescription hypoallergenic dog food may also be indicated. Adding in pet probiotics is always a good idea.
