My dog vomited after deworming and is in heat. Should I worry?

It is not uncommon for dogs to vomit after medication and generally if it is more then 2 hours after the medication should have worked. As the food was undigested it may not have been absorbed as well as anticipated and it may be worth applying a different type of spot on medication, especially if you are in a heartworm affected area. If he vomited 5 days after the deworming the vomiting is not likely to be related to the deworming. It sounds as Smokey t is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

It is possible that he could have been more stressed at the first visit or had car sickness causing him to throw up the first one. If a different dewormer was used, this could have caused it as well. As long as Max is ok now, that is all that matters. I've had countless dogs vomit with the dewormer. Some just have more of a sensitive stomach than others and it could have been that maybe Max had a more sensitive GI system at the time of the first dewormer but the GI system became more developed and not as sensitive at the time of the second dewormer. I am not sure the type of dewormer or the vaccines that you used but vomiting often, lethargy, and not eating are not typical 2-4 days after vaccination and deworming. It is very concerning that she is having these signs and she could have an infection or possibly have a parasite that was not susceptible to the dewormer that you used. She really should be seen by a vet to determine the cause and treat. She may need an anti-vomiting injection, antibiotic, antacid, gastrointestinal protectant, dewormer, and/or other medications to treat. Hi, I'm worried if Zoey is still weak and vomiting. Young pups don't have much in reserve so if they stop eating they can deteriorate very quickly. It could be related to the de worming medicine if she had a lot of worms that died quickly, or she may have an illness like parvo, giardia or coccdia. If she's not eaten today, take her to the emergency vet tonight. If she's eaten some and is still walking about, take her in the morning.

He could still vomit worms - it can take a few days and usually two doses to take care of most roundworms. There are some types of stomach worms that would require a different dewormer so I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian if Roman continues to vomit. They can test Roman's stool to help determine what type of worms are present, and it might also help to reserve a worm if he vomits another up.
