My dog is vomiting orange foam, not eating or drinking. What's wrong?

Hello, thank you for your question about Bubba. Vomiting is a nonspecific sign than can be indicative of problems within the GI tract or systemic disease. Problems within the GI tract can include obstruction, eating foreign material, inflammation, parasites, etc. Systemic diseases that make pets nauseous include liver/kidney disease or pancreatitis. If Bubba continues to vomit and unable to keep even water down I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian. Severe vomiting can lead to dehydration and abnormalities in some electrolytes. Your veterinarian can examine Bubba and then discuss additional diagnostics such as bloodwork and abdominal x-rays to look for a cause for her symptoms. Hope this helps, good luck!

For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Peanut evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. I am concerned about a few possibilities: toxin - I am not familiar with the plants and animals native to South Africa but we have a few in the states that can do this parasites- a worm burden in the stomach or small intestine can cause this bleeding disorder - certain tick borne illnesses can cause bleeding ingestion of an acid or caustic agent, heat stroke, bleeding ulcer, electric shock, and cancer of the stomach or intestines can all ado this. I would recommend seeing the vet as soon as possible. He or she may recommend bloodwork and/or medications to stop the vomiting and ease nausea. Best wishes to you and Dapple.

Unfortunately, those are quite nonspecific symptoms, and could be consistent with almost any illness. If Prince isn't eating or drinking, and is vomiting, he really needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian. Your vet can determine quite a lot by a good exam, and will then be able to recommend any appropriate diagnostic tests to determine what's wrong. At the very least, your vet can help Prince feel better with supportive care to control his nausea, and give fluids to correct his dehydration. I worry especially with his young age and being such a little guy, he can become dehydrated quickly. I hope he feels better soon!

I'm so sorry to hear that Beax is not feeling well. We always get concerned when puppies do not eat and are vomiting. Adult dogs can go a while without eating, but puppies can get very sick very quickly if they are not eating and are vomiting. I would recommend having Beax seen by a veterinarian today. They will be able to evaluate for any underlying disease, see if she is dehydrated, and give her some anti-nausea medication to make her feel better. Good luck!
