Why does my dog throw up when she eats too fast or doesn't chew?

This is definitely something that can occur as a result of how fast food and water are ingested. The maze dog food bowls work great or the bowls that only dispense a small amount of food at a time. You can try and elevate the food bowl and see if this helps. If the episodes become more frequent then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Pepper and consider switching to a different food. I hope this helps! I am very sorry to hear that Maggie is experiencing these problems, There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including pancreatistis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison, or even an gastrointestinal obstruction. It is also possible that Maggie is simply eating too much too fast. If the episodes continue over a 48 hour period, Maggie seems dull or depressed, in pain, ha sprifuse diarrhoea or vomiting, I would take her straight tot wh vet. Your vet will be able to perform a physical exam and run diagnostic tests such as bloodwork to determine the cause of Maggie's vomiting. In the meantime you can continue to monuitir her at home. Rest her stomach for a few hours. Then try smaller meals three times a day. Try a bland diet of boiled chicken breast and white rice for a few days and provide plenty of fresh water. Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about Pola's troubles. I have seem dogs vomit because of their stomach being empty for too long in between meals. Vomiting after eating however could more likely be a sign of something else. Maybe Pola's food no longer agrees with her or she's getting a sensitive stomach. Also, can you think of anything Pola may have gotten into? Dogs can get things stuck in the stomach that can cause partial blockages or even chronic irritation. I would make sure you are giving Pola her total amount of food split into 2-3 meals every 8-12 hours. Also important is if Pola has started eating faster because shes being given less food to eat. Eating too fast would make her throw up too. She may need to eat from a treat dispensing ball or something like a pickle pocket to make sure she's eating slowly. If this doesn't go away in another 5 days or so I'd have her evaluated by her veterinarian. They can help you streamline her diet and also make sure she doesn't have anything else going on. Many dogs gulp or bolt their food. It’s a common issue. Continue to use the special feeder. You could also look for kibble that is disc shaped or has a hole in the center as this will slow Zeke down as well as force him to chew more. You could also switch from a bowl to a food ball dispenser. He will have to roll the ball around the get the kibble to come out and this will definitely slow things down. Canned food may help because he has to lick rather than grab. Every dog is different. Some dogs do great on canned food while others don’t. Maya could be eating too fast, you may want to try a slow feeder to see if that helps. If it's not improving I would have Maya evaluated by your veterinarian to make sure she doesn't have any congenital or developmental issues that would be causing the vomiting. You can also try to distinguish if she's vomiting versus regurgitating. Vomiting required abdominal effort (like retching or dry heaving), while regurgitation does not.

Certainly either one is possible. Watch Bananas very closely for the next 24 hours for any signs of lethargy, not eating as well as normal or continued vomiting. If it’s related to eating too quickly, she is expected to be completely fine from now on. If she shows signs of illness, have her checked out by her veterinarian. You can look into getting a different slow feeder. Also, you can consider basically throwing her food (kibble) in a room which is going to spread it out and Jackie will have to eat it more slowly.
