My cat eats too fast and throws up. How do I stop her from vomiting?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

My cat throws up because she eats way too fast and then chugs water right afterwards. What can I do to stop this? I already have a slow feeder bowl but that hasn’t made any difference, and my other cat has no problems eating at a normal pace. She’s not I’ll, her vomit is always just regurgitated food, and it’s made for sensitive stomachs.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are a few things that you can consider including splitting her feedings into a few a day using the slow feeder. You can look into getting a different slow feeder. Also, you can consider basically throwing her food (kibble) in a room which is going to spread it out and Jackie will have to eat it more slowly. This usually works really well. Good luck and have a great day!
