My dog is vomiting, constipated, black poop after meds. What to do?

Hi 2days ago my 9 year dog got a small bite cut near his eye and and the next day he started rubbing and swelling starts ,then i take him to the vet and he prescribed two tablets 1st one is lixen (cephalexin tablets 600 mg) and 2nd one is voveran sr 100 ( diclofenac sodium) he prescribed 1 tablet each in the morning and 1 in evening and after giving 3 dosages my starts vomiting as soon as he eat and drink water and constipation also black colour poop.what antacid should i give and what to do

Hi there, he may be having some gastric upset due to the antibiotics, but I would encourage you to call your vet to see if you could maybe stop the diclofenac and finish the cephalexin. If you are not giving your medications with a meal they can cause gastric upset even more, as they will increase gastric acid production. Pepcid (famotidine) is usually considered safe to use in dogs-you will have to call your doctor for a dosage or find it online as we cannot legally give you a dosage due to the nature of our company and having not seen your pet in person. However-and blood in the stool (I am assuming this is digested blood in your black feces) and not being able to eat without vomiting to me represents something I would personally encourage you to seek emergency veterinary care for. That class of medicines have potential to cause a GI ulcers which can cause vomiting and dark stool (digested blood) Taking him to the vet is the best option sonthey can also run blood work to check the kidneys as that can also be a side effect of that class of medicine. My dog is still sick and vomiting after stopping Cephalexin. What now?

I would strongly recommend taking her right away back to your vet, antibiotics alone are definitely not enough when a dog is vomiting, she needs an injection to stop the vomiting to start with, otherwise no oral medications can be given. cephlaxin is also known for increasing vomiting, she needs a different antibiotic such as Metrogyl or Amoxicillin. i would also recommend a blood test at the very least.

Diarrhea and vomiting can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. When there is evidence of black stools that can be a sign of gastrointestinal ulceration for example. recommend that you have Pepper evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Why is my dog throwing up, not eating, and not pooping for a week?

I am sorry to hear Blackie isn't feeling well. I would be very concerned about a GI foreign body. I recommend taking her to a vet ASAP for an exam and radiographs. Even if she is drinking water, she is not drinking enough to combat the vomiting and is probably dehydrated. Please do not give any more medications as you may be making things worse. Why is my dog throwing up and pooping black? Is it serious?

Black stool could indicate blood in the stool. Vomiting, and black stool could be caused by parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. In the case of an unspayed female dog , pyometra (a potentially fatal infection of the uterus) is a possibility as well, and this is very concerning. Please have Cassie seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, as vomiting and possible blood in the stool can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. I recommend taking in a fecal sample from Cassie to your vet as well, as that may aid them in making a diagnosis. Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon!
