My dog is throwing up clear slime and not drinking. Vet emergency?

Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!

Be sure that you know if she is vomiting (belly goes in and out) versus regurgitation (burps up fluid) versus a cough with a terminal retch (cough is first followed by a gag of fluid). I don't know how old Honey is but she only weighs 5 lbs and that means if she is truly vomiting then she could get dehydrated quickly. If the vomiting is non-stop she should be taken to your Vet if open or an emergency hospital. If it has been a couple of times remove all water and food. Do not offer water for 4-6 hours of no vomiting and offer small amounts and ice chips. Do not offer food until 12-24 hours of no vomiting and offer it as a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day as small frequent meals. If she continues to vomit while fasted or once she starts eating she needs to see a Vet. Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, foreign body (something is stuck and needs surgery to remove), dietary indiscretion, viral or bacterial infections, metabolic conditions, toxin ingestion, food allergy or intolerance. This is due to their conformation, as brachycephalic dogs. I recommend contacting your regular veterinarian to let them know that Thor is having these clinical signs. There are medications that can be used to help treat regurgitation, such as metoclopramide, which functions to keep the GI tract moving food and water in the right direction. I hope this is helpful!

Yes, it is entirely possible that Big Boy swallowed another hair binder, and it's now causing an obstruction leading to the vomiting. It sounds like he's been throwing up a lot, and given his symptoms and the chance of a foreign body, he should see a vet immediately for x-rays. X-rays can determine if he does have a foreign body, and he will need surgery to remove it should one be present. Please take him into a vet now.

I'm so sorry to hear that Boomer is sick! It is very concerning that Boomer is throwing up everything including water. The vomit being coffee colored makes me concerned about a GI ulcer or serious GI bleed. This can occur secondary to toxin ingestion, kidney failure, or overdoses of some medications. I strongly suggest you take Boomer to an emergency veterinarian so he can be examined and supportive care can be started. He will likely need blood work to determine what the underlying cause. Unfortunately without emergency care Boomer is at risk of becoming dehydrated and the illness worsening. You can try a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice however I don't think this will resolve the issue so I'd still encourage you to seek veterinary care for Boomer as soon as possible. Hello, thank you for your question. Since Benny seems to be doing much better now and the vomiting has stopped I would recommend continuing to monitor him. If the vomiting begins again or he develops any lethargy or other concerning signs I would recommend having him seen by your veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

Vomiting this frequently can be either due to something stuck in the GI tract, or a severe gastritis (inflammation of the GI tract) that can be caused by an infection such a parvo-virus or food poisoning, or just a stomach upset. If Zao hasn't stopped vomiting and isn't eating/drinking well, then I would recommend taking him to the vet. They will likely want to do x-rays to make sure nothing is blocking the GI tract if he is continuing to vomit. Otherwise they can get him medications to make him not throw up. Best of luck with Zao.
