My dog threw up blood after I gave him peroxide. Is this serious?

This is a medical emergency, and Rosie needs to see a vet now. It is very serious when a dog throws up blood. She could have eaten something toxic, may have GI ulcers, could have a foreign body, or could have suffered trauma to her GI tract. She requires veterinary attention now to diagnose what is causing her to vomit blood so she can be treated. Please take her into a vet now.

It sounds as Enzo is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently as vomiting blood is a serious symptom, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If it was a one time instance, then yes, it should be OK to just watch him right now. I do think he should see a vet for sure if it happens again - bloody vomit is not a good sign. The only way heat could cause this is if Doggy is experiencing heat stroke (high body temperature, collapse, etc). When a dog is having heat stroke it is obvious and life threatening. Just general hot weather shouldn't cause vomiting let alone with blood. Causes of vomiting are: viral (especially parvo) or bacterial infections, intestinal parasites, he ate something inappropriate, pancreatitis, a blockage from eating a foreign object that is stuck, toxin ingestion, clotting or platelet problem or from something local to Lebanon. If he continues to vomit with blood that is an emergency and he should be seen by a Vet. If he is lethargic and won't eat currently he should see a Vet. Otherwise I would start a bland diet of boiled chicken breast with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days to rest his stomach. i wish you the best!

It could be, the pink tinge might be blood, indicating that he has swallowed something that injured his throat or stomach or he has vomited so much his esophagus is irritated enough to bleed. Either way, I strongly recommend getting him in to see a vet right away, especially if the vomiting has been going on for some time.

Vomiting blood can be a sign of rat poisoning, autoimmune condition, severe stomach ulcer, intestinal blockage or liver disease And other causes are also possible.
