My dog threw up bile, won't eat for days. When to see a vet?

Since this has been ongoing I recommend getting him seen by your vet to find out what is causing his loss of appetite. It may be that he's holding out for people food but the vomiting is concerning. Your vet will do an exam, lab work, possibly x-rays and based on the results your vet will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to treat it.

You need to take Hank into a vet right away. It's quite serious he hasn't eating for three days and is vomiting. He could have a severe GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have a foreign body. He needs veterinary care immediately to diagnose what is causing these symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Hi there. Dogs can certainly get a minor upset stomach due to an infection or something they ate, but this should normally resolve within 24 hours. Since Brutus has been sick for three days now, I would definitely recommend having him seen, as this may be a more serious problem. He may have a GI problem such as pancreatitis or a foreign body in his intestines, a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, or may have ingested something toxic. Your veterinarian can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

Throwing up can have many causes. It is basically a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc.  I would fast Sadie for 24 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to her regular food slowly over a few days. If Sadie soes not eat, or if the vomiting persists, or if she gets lethargic, she needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If it is more than a couple of hours after taking her medication before she vomited, Bailey probably got most of her dose. However if she continues to vomit, or isn't eating at all after 48 hours she may need some fluid therapy. I would recommend contacting her vet tomorrow if she still isn't eating. If she vomits anymore tonight or seems to feel worse then she may need to go to an emergency clinic tonight.

That is a long time for Kittu to vomit, and I would be concerned he has something serious wrong with him such as a foreign body or pancreatitis causing his vomiting. if he's vomiting whenever he eats, he will not have had any nutrition for four or five days. Hi, yes always take a bulldog to see a vet sooner rather than later. Vomiting in Bulldogs can cause aspiration pneumonia because of the way their airways are . Also some prompt treatment can make vomiting improve rapidly depending on the primary cause. Hope Lola gets better soon !
