My dog threw up a firm, squishy, fat-like object. What is it?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

What is this? My dog threw it up and it’s firm with a little squish to it. It’s almost like a piece of fat.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

Very interesting! Without touching it myself and opening it I can only speculate: Chicken skin/cartilage, parasite, rubber foreign material. I would put it in a baggie and see if your Vet can identify it in person. Consider bringing a stool sample as well to check for gastro-intestinal parasites. If your dog continues to vomit, is lethargic or stops eating I would have him/her seen right away in case there is more of this material that is causing stomach irritation or an obstruction.

I wish you the best and Happy Holidays!

This looks like a foreign body, it could be a piece of material covered in gastric juices. Rinse it in water and it may be clearer what it is.
I would definitely attend your vet as there could be more than this. Hopefully this is all the foreign body but best to be sure.
