My cat keeps throwing up weird stuff. What is this foreign material?

Hello. Without a picture, I can only guess , but your cat probably vomited up some cord like material he swallowed. Cats do like to eat anything that looks like string. It is possible he tried to ingest a small snake, too, but whatever it was, I would just be happy he vomited it up rather than it becoming an obstruction in his intestines that could have required hospitalization. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Wow! I think that is a huge hairball or a wad of tissues or paper towels. You would need to put on gloves and pull it apart to tell for sure. I would hope based on the size that there likely isn't anymore. I would watch Cid and if he will not eat or continues to vomit he should be seen right away by your Vet. Save it in a baggie in case so the Vet can look at it. I wish you and Cid the best!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tifa! Thanks for the pictures! The spaghetti noodle things in the vomit are adult round worms, which are an intestinal parasite. Since Tifa is lethargic, not eating and profusely vomiting I would recommend taking her in to the Vet. Hopefully with some supportive care and deworming medications we can get her back to normal. I have, in rare cases, seen intestinal parasites cause an intestinal obstruction. I hope this helps and I wish Tifa a speedy recovery!

This looks like some kind of foreign material to me - it looks like it could be rubber. It does not look like any kind of parasite to me. If Duker is continuing to vomit (I’m assuming this is from vomit) I would recommend seeing a veterinarian. They might want to do some x-rays to make sure there is not evidence of an obstruction.

That doesn't look like worms. It looks like plant material of some kind. Do you have any indoor plants that he could have eaten? I would just monitor him for now and if this happens again you should take him to your vet for an exam.

I recommend that you have Mishu evaluated by a veterinarian to work the vomiting as this may be due to worms for instance, or something else like a gastrointestinal foreign body, among other possibilities. It is ot possible to identify the source from the photo but your vet may be able to examine to confirm if it is indeed cat hair or synthetic yarn. I would recommend feeding a diet formulated for hair ball reduction for 3-4weeks. A full health check and abdominal xrays would be recommended to rule out any partial obstruction or sooner if there is any weight loss
