Why is my dog's vomit strange after eating a bone? Is it serious?

It sounds like Jax may be suffering from either gastritis or even pancreatitis from goat and ham bones/ meat. Since this has been going on for over 24 hours I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. They may recommend an x-ray to look for an obstruction from the bones as well as blood work to see if he has pancreatitis. He will likely need anti nausea medications to help him improve. It sounds as Ella is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

It could be due to dietary indiscretion or even more concerning due to a gastrointestinal obstruction. The fact that Bailey ate dinner and did not vomit makes me think that it is less likely for this to be an obstruction though if the vomiting resumes or he stops eating, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I noticed in one of those pictures that his stool is really diarrhea and is black (which usually means a sign of bleeding). Vomiting and diarrhea can occur secondary to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, parasites, among other possibilities. In addition, black stools can be indicative of bleeding into the small intestine or stomach which can happen secondary to an ulcer for instance. Bloody urine can be the result of an infection, stones, tumors, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start him on medications to make him feel better and check his hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Yes, this could be blood, and Savi has to see a vet immediately. She could be experiencing a perforation of her GI tract from the bone, or she could have an obstruction from it. This is a medical emergency, and she needs an x-ray to see if the bone has caused an obstruction, as well as a physical exam, blood tests, and a urinalysis. Please take Savi into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her ASAP.

Poor girl. It sounds like Lemon may have a stomach ulcer or even just irritation of her esophagus. She really needs to see a vet soon to have this treated. If she otherwise seems stable and isn't extremely lethargic or have pale gums, then it may be ok to wait until morning to get Lemon seen. There are regular clinics open on Sunday such as Banfield or VCA, so its best to call them first before resorting to an EC clinic. Its best to feed her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken or lean ground turkey and white rice to help settle her stomach somewhat until she can be seen by a vet. That looks like a partially digested piece of a dental chew. It's hard to say why he threw up this morning. Hopefully he just has a mild stomach upset that will resolve quickly. Sometimes this happens if dogs eat too quickly, eat a new food item or diet, or if they have stomach acid buildup. Other more serious possibilities would be inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), a bowel obstruction, or an infection. You can continue to monitor him today, but if he continues to vomit or develops other symptoms of illness, it's best to have him evaluated by a vet to make sure it's not a serious problem. A bland diet may help in the meantime.
