My dog had parvo. When can she get vaccines and be dewormed?

It's best to wait until Jerry has recovered from the Parvo infection before giving the deworming tablet. If you give it now, she may vomit the medication and it will ultimately be ineffective. Worms often don't cause that many problems, so she would likely be fine to wait a few days while she recovers. However, it's best that you ask your vet doctor there about this. First of all regarding the worms and fleas, a food quality treatment for worms and for fleas will get rid of both within 24 hours, so make sure you use a high quality product. she is too young to get her parvo (and other) shot, you need to wait until she is 8 weeks old. she then will need 2-3 shots 2-4 weeks apart t o complete the vaccination course.

Be sure to feed the food her vet recommends and offer small amounts of food frequently. Do not allow her to eat all she wants at one time. Zoe may be contagious to other puppies for up to 3-4 weeks so should be kept away from other dogs and pups. Depending on how she is doing the vet may recommend vaccination anywhere from 1-3 weeks after she starts eating. She cannot contract Parvo again but does need to be vaccinated against other diseases. Raven is a cutie! It sounds like you are taking the appropriate precautions which is good. Her final set of vaccines will happen between 16 - 18 weeks of age. At her next appointment, discuss the vaccine schedule with her doctor. Vaccines take about a week to take effect and she will not be fully protected until after the last set. Collect the vomit in a baggie and call the vet tomorrow. They may want to see her or they may recommend and drop it off to have them examine it. Puppies can vomit up rounds worms which dewormers are highly effective against. I hope this helps!

A puppy may shed parvovirus for up to 6 week after initial symptoms appear. It would be best to wait at least this long after recovery then have your veterinarian examine them to make sure they can undergo anesthesia.
