My 5-week-old puppy has worms. When can she get her Parvo shot?

If Pixie is eating and drinking properly without vomitng and has no more diarrhea then you can worm her about a week after the last diarrhea. I would still wait a few weeks before vaccination as you want a fully recovered immune system in order to get a perfect immune response. So give it 2 weeks or so.

Yes 5 weeks is too early for the first vaccination which should be given not before 7-8 weeks, vaccinations have very little to no effect before that. if your other dogs are vaccinated you have nothing to worry about.

Raven is a cutie! It sounds like you are taking the appropriate precautions which is good. Her final set of vaccines will happen between 16 - 18 weeks of age. At her next appointment, discuss the vaccine schedule with her doctor. Vaccines take about a week to take effect and she will not be fully protected until after the last set. Collect the vomit in a baggie and call the vet tomorrow. They may want to see her or they may recommend and drop it off to have them examine it. Puppies can vomit up rounds worms which dewormers are highly effective against. I hope this helps!

Her veterinarian will likely deworm her and start her on heartworm prevention at 8 weeks of age. Once she has had her initial vaccines and been started on parasite prevention, she can take short walks. You just will need to avoid areas that are frequented other dogs though. Pets are vaccinated as early as 6 weeks of age, and are usually weaned off of mom at this age. Since you have another pet in the home that does go outside, it is best to start vaccines for this pup once she is 6-8 weeks of age. Intestinal worms usually don't make pets too sick, but it can cause loose stool and potential vomiting. They still will eat well and do well as long as the worms are treated in a timely fashion (within 1-2 weeks), so this is an easy fix if you do encounter this. If your other pet is on a monthly heartworm prevention, then it has a natural intestinal dewormer in it as well that can protect your pet against 2 types of worms (hookworms and roundworms), which are the most common types of worms seen in puppies. But again, if you do happen to encounter a worm problem, this is easily dealt with with the appropriate dewormer, so keep an eye out for any loose stools.
