Dog not eating, acting strange, fever after vaccine. Is it a reaction?

If it has been longer than this, it is likely unrelated to the vaccines that a good reason to have Saski evaluated by your veterinarian to ensure that there is not something else going on. Good luck! This is not a normal reaction to a vaccine. However, I would be concerned there is also something else going on since it's been several days between vaccine and reaction. Due to the symptoms you mentioned, it would be best to bring Kronos to a veterinarian right away for care.

That could be a vaccine reaction. You did not say however which type of medication you gave him for the fever and so I cannot advise if there are side effects to that or not. Please repost with the name of the medication and the active ingredient if needed. I also recommend to call his veterinarian and tell him what’s going on. The doctor needs to know that for any future vaccinations and may recommend some definitely pet safe treatments to give him. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions!

Normal dog temperature is 99-102.5. The temperature could be elevated due to activity, excitement, inflammation or infection. Typically a vaccine reaction will happen within 24 hours though 48 hours could be possible. Vaccine side effects can sound very scary but they are rare and the protection they provide against disease is worth the risk for most pets (pets with known vaccine reactions may warrant different protocols by their veterinarian). If it is not the vet who vaccinated him make sure to let them know he had a reaction so they can note in his chart and report it to the vaccine company. I hope Theo feels better soon.

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. He may be having a vaccine reaction. Sometimes it can be painful at the injection site and dogs can be sore. I would recommend calling your veterinarian tonight and letting them know that Wolfie is not feeling great. They may prescribed him some anti-inflammatory medication, fluids or anti-nausea medication to help him feel a little better. Good luck!

Hello. Many things could cause his loss of appetite including something stuck in the gut (sock, toy, ball), an infection (virus, bacteria), or an upset stomach from eating something that didn't agree with him. If Martin is otherwise bright and happy and playing, I would try feeding some rice and some boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breast, in small frequent meals. If he is lethargic, vomiting, having diarrhea, or not wanting to eat still, I would take him to a vet. Since he is unvaccinated he may have other very serious illnesses.
