My dog has UTI symptoms: straining, bloody urine. What can I give?

She likely has a urinary tract infection or possibly bladder stones. If you can't get her in any sooner than Monday and can't call them to ask for advice or to move up the appointment and she still seems otherwise okay, get her seen Monday. If she does start feeling sick or has trouble urinating, take her to an emergency clinic, just understand that at any vet right now the wait may be long unless she is an emergency and in very bad shape. I don't know of any products you can buy over the counter that will help, and using OTC products could actually mask symptoms that could help lead to a faster diagnosis when she does get to her appointment.

I am afraid there are no homeopathic remedies for a UTI with frank blood in the urine. As a matter of fact, she could have a serious kidney infection, polyps or a bladder tumor as well. Before treatment comes diagnosis and you really need to take her to your veterinarian for an exam, urinalysis and diagnosis. Depending on the diagnosis your veterinarian will treat her with the appropriate medications.

The only treatment that can give her any relief is an antibiotic treatment, which will also solve the problem, but you will need to take her to a veterinary clinic or ER in order to get this treatment.

She needs to see a vet to determine the type of infection and which medications will treat it. I would also be concerned about possible bladder stones. If Lily is peeing blood, I would be concerned that she has a UTI, bladder stones, or even bladder cancer. Unfortunately there is nothing you can give her at home, she has to see a vet for this problem. If she appears lethargic, ill or distressed, or if the urine appears very bloody, then she should be seen by a vet ASAP. In this case, please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. If she is otherwise healthy and happy, eats and drinks plenty, you can wait until Monday morning. Feed her wet/canned food, add water to it, and make sure she drinks a lot of water to help flush the bladder.

Poor Dolly. One important thing to do is take her out frequently. This gives her more opportunity to empty her bladder. Feed her canned food and add water to it to flush her bladder. I hope this helps!

This behavior can actually be a sign of a UTI or bladder stones. I'd have Monty seen by a vet for this for blood work and a urinalysis. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose if he has one of the things I mentioned above, and can treat him. I'd take him into a vet today. I hope this helps!
