My dog's UTI discharge increased on antibiotics. Is this normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hello. I have a female dog on the third day of antibiotics for a UTI and noticed her yellow discharge had increased. Is this a sign the antibiotic is working to expel the infection, or should I be concerned? Thank you in advance.

Hello, sorry to hear about Ashlee. If she is having worsening discharge, I would actually be concerned that her antibiotics are not working. If her signs do not improve then you should have her urine tested again by your veterinarian to determine if the antibiotic she is currently on is adequate for her infection. Hope this helps and best of luck.
